Getting a Firewater Line Back in Service

A firewater system has to work the moment it’s needed, so a leak can’t wait. Bindewald Maintenance was called to replace a leaking valve on an underground HDPE firewater line at an industrial site.

The work included:

Excavation: our crew dug out and opened a safe trench around the leaking section, managing water in the excavation as we worked.
Removal: the failed valve and connection were cut out of the HDPE line.
New valve installation: a new flanged gate valve was installed and bolted into the line with new flange connections.
Safety: crews worked in fall-protection harnesses inside the excavation, following the site’s safety requirements.

With the new valve in place, the line could be tested and the site’s fire protection restored.
