Rebuilding a Levee and Improving Pond Drainage

Levees around ponds and retention basins take a beating from rain, wave action and runoff. Once a slope starts to erode, it can lose its shape quickly and threaten the structure behind it.

Bindewald Maintenance repaired the levee on this pond and added filtration to the pond bottom:

Slope reshaping: our crew regraded and compacted the levee face back to a stable, uniform slope.
Pond-bottom filtration: we placed a layer of gravel filtration stone along the pond bottom and toe of the slope to help water move through and hold the base in place.
Slope stabilization: the finished slope was covered with sod to lock the soil in place and protect against future erosion.

The result is a clean, stable levee with established cover, and a pond bottom built to drain and filter properly.
